Although we know the process of repairing a household appliance can be very similar to the process of repairing a hot tub, we still need to answer the question of whether or not a hot tub is considered an appliance.
Our first investigation into this answer comes through looking at the definition of the word appliance. If we can determine from the definition of the word appliance that a hot tub fits into that category then we can easily answer this question.
If one google’s the definition of the word appliance we find this, “a device or piece of equipment designed to perform a specific task, typically a domestic one.”
Let’s dig into this definition together. Is a hot tub a “device or piece of equipment”? I would say that yes a hot tub is a device because we can also look up the definition for the word “device” and we find this answer, “a thing made or adapted for a particular purpose, especially a piece of mechanical or electronic equipment.” We know that hot tubs are a “thing made … for a particular purpose,” and that purpose is to heat water for one to enjoy.
So from just looking at the definition of the word appliance and the word device we can argue than indeed a hot tub could be considered an “appliance.” However, let’s talk in short about the difference we see in the common household appliances and the hot tub.
Most household appliances serve a purpose that furthers the daily functions of life and living in a home. The dishwasher for example is directly related to our process in eating food. The same with the refrigerator, freezer, stove, oven, or microwave. The fireplace helps us keep our home warm so we can survive during cold winter months. These examples so far are directly related to our survival even though there are ways to accomplish these tasks without said appliances to help us.
When we start looking at appliances like the washer and dryer for washing clothes, or even the dishwasher we mentioned before, we see that these types of appliances are more for convenience rather than survival. Taking this even further we find that appliances like the Television are strictly for entertainment in the majority of households, but many still will consider a television to be an appliance.
I’m going to argue that if a television can be considered an appliance, and it is a luxury item, then a hot tub would most definitely fit into that same category and can take on the appliance badge.
Although we focus on maintaining and repairing hot tubs for you, we know that there are a variety of other appliances you might own that could need some attention as well. When it comes to appliance repair, another business we look to for advice in this category is our friends at Yakima Appliance Repair . It’s always nice to know other businesses you can reach out to if you have a question needing an answer but it is in a slightly different category than what you specialize in. When it comes to repairing hot tubs however, you want to make sure you hire a specific hot tub repair technician or an appliance repair technician who has a handful of experience dealing with different types of hot tubs and a variety of different issues.
